Pintxo

Here’s a small corner of Basque country in the heart of Montréal. Alonso Ortiz is the chef of this small gastronomic Eldorado. Having studied Basque cuisine, he serves up a dizzying menu of pintxo dishes (pronounced “pin-tcho”, meaning “small tapas”) prepared with panache and original Spanish accents. Diners in the know keep coming back for the unbeatable fresh carpaccio and salmon tartare and for house specialties like the Salpicón de txangurro (marinated crab, peppers and shrimp) or the Morcilla de Burgos (black pudding and apple chutney), while the more adventurous inquire about the daily pintxo concocted by the chef based on seasonal offerings. Wine lovers can embark on a voyage of discovery through the superb selection of wines from every region in Spain. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, and attentive service enhances the gastronomic pleasures.
